Take a prayer walk with us through nine cities of Iran. We will highlight for you the physical dynamic of water and its correlated spiritual meaning. We look to the Source of living water to fill the thirsty hearts of Iranians this Nowruz season!
As we learned before, Iranian communities form around water. Much of Iran is arid, with no visible water sources. To solve this problem, a system was developed by Iranians thousands of years ago called “Qanat.” Mountains abound in this country, mountains that hold underground water. Via a system of bores in the ground and underground aqueducts, this fresh, cool water is transported to the hot, arid communities and farmlands. Yazd, thriving thousands of years in the middle of a vast desert, is one such community.
“And the LORD will…satisfy your desire in scorched places…and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.” (Isaiah 58:11)
Let’s pray together today over the region of Yazd.
“Thank you, Jesus, for changing the destiny of the people of Yazd. Where the barrenness of false religions is seen by physical eyes, spiritual eyes see Jesus’ water of life flowing into the hearts of the people. Let all be led to the water of life for an opportunity to drink! Give boldness to Your people to proclaim the good news of LIVING WATER!”
- Thank Jesus for bringing His water of life to the land of Iran.
- For unbelievers to taste the goodness of the Lord to turn to Him.
- For believers to proclaim boldly there is a Savior!
- For persecuted believers to see Emmanuel, Jesus with them, in the rejection of family and prisons of the government.
