This summer, I walked with my three sons to a popular tourist spot here. There were always plenty of people milling about, some locals and others tourists. We fit into the tourist crowd easily, but we weren’t looking at the picturesque views. We were looking to share the Gospel with Iranians.
That particular day, I remember it took a while to make any connections, but finally we saw a large group of Iranians. We jumped in and asked if they were speaking Farsi. They invited us into the conversation, and we ended up talking about faith and culture for the next hour. We exchanged contact information with our new friends, and just before we parted ways, one man told me that he had decided he wanted to ‘go his own way.’ I immediately knew exactly what he was trying to say. He wanted to know more about Jesus!
Another man made an appointment with me for later that week. We met together with him and shared the Gospel with him clearly. He did not make a decision that day but was incredibly open to hearing about Jesus. I explained who Jesus is and what Jesus did to reveal that He is God. We shared how Jesus demonstrated His love for the world. Even today, we continue to be in touch with this man who is so close to accepting Christ!
Praise the Lord for open, understanding hearts. [And praise the Lord for families that participate in ministry together!]
